Discipline gets a bad wrap. Say the word, and you’ll usually get some kind of groan of discontent or look of distaste from your audience.
I get it. Discipline seems, well…not fun. Most of us associate it with the things we don’t like to do, or the things we “should” do in our life to be better, healthier, stronger…etc.
But that’s not discipline’s fault that we think that. In truth, I don’t really even think that’s an accurate description of what discipline really is.
The concept of discipline has been the victim of some bad PR, and now all of us suffer because we don’t truly understand how to perceive of this very critical and (dare I say it) JOYFUL practice of life.
If you think I am crazy for even suggesting that something like discipline could be joyful, watch the video below for three very helpful re-frames for thinking about discipline in a new way.
I’ve been incorporating these re-frames in my daily life, and they are making huge waves of transformation occur, and all for the positive. And, the bonus is, it’s actually been fun and even relaxing to do this.
Who would have thought? Check it out.

So, there you have it. Discipline isn’t the bad guy after all. As fellow yogi, Charles Eisenstein insightfully shares:
So, let’s stop making this complicated and let’s start re-framing discipline so it can take its rightful place in our conscious minds and lives. Be sure to share in the comments below what re-frame resonates most for you and share how you’re going to apply it as you move ahead.
Big love sisters,
Amy

Dear Amy,
These reframes are wonderful. Words like devotion, higher self, and opportunity open me up to a sense of possibility and I love this feeling.
I like your quote and explanation of “Through discipline comes freedom.” Seeing the plants next to you in your video (as you talk about plants being able to reach up to sunlight and nourishment) helps root this concept in my heart.
Thank you for this post!
Awesome Glenda! So glad this resonated for you. It’s amazing how much one small perception shift can make a world of difference, yes? Keep using the re-frames and before you know it, they’ll become your default. Thank you for being part of our tribe! Peace and blessings, Amy 🙂
Hi Amy,
I just focused on this video now. As Glenda wrote, these are wonderful reframes. I will be more mindful as I feel resistance in myself to do the things I need to do to keep moving forward. I will also forward this to a couple of my clients to help them look at discipline in a more positive light. Thank you as always. Jane
