Wouldn’t it be great if when we were younger and in school there were course subjects in things like emotional intelligence, self acceptance, and establishing serenity?
In some places, nowadays, such things do exist. Over the last fifteen years, I’ve regularly taught yoga to little ones as young as 3 and 4 years old. It’s so exciting to see the revolution that’s happening to invite these new kinds of offerings into schools, camps, daycare centers, and beyond.
We still have a ways to go to make such work accessible to everyone, but we’ve come a long way from where we started!
But for those of us that graduated well before yoga and the like hit the classroom, we may have had little if any guidance in the finer life skills while growing up. And heck, even if you did have regular support or mentors, even the most experienced and learned individuals still need a refresher in a practice like self-acceptance.
Intellectually, I’ve always wanted to experience self-acceptance. I mean, who wouldn’t?! Duh.
But to actually embody such a state? That’s something I’m truly only just starting to experience. I want to share with you some of what I’ve been learning and hopefully shed some light on what appears to be a rather slippery and elusive concept for many of us to grasp.
Since our observation skills are usually at their sharpest when we’re just starting to learn something new, I am having a crisp, beginners-mind experience of self-acceptance right now, and I hope this video does justice to some of the a-has that are revealing themselves to me so that you can take part in them too. Let’s take a look!

So, there you have it. Straight from the mouth of a beginner!
I do believe that self-acceptance is a skill that we’ll be practicing our whole lives, and that there will always be more room for growth. But hopefully, with today’s tips, you have some good ways to make headway on your journey now.
Please let me know in the comments below what resonated most for you. Or, did I leave something out? What do you do to accept yourself more?
Waves of love coming at ya,
Amy
