Our world has challenges. So many that it can sometimes be overwhelming to even contemplate.
A lot of us fear we’ll be so devastated, grief-stricken, or filled with anger if we really let ourselves feel the reality of our world right now that we repeatedly numb out or ignore bad news in our world. Others of us fear the hopelessness we think we’ll feel. So, instead we choose avoidance.
Is there another alternative?
I think so. What if you could find a way to interface with the big issues, the global concerns, without feeling like an insignificant blip on a radar? What if you could find a way to use these exceptional times we live in order to open up to a new level of authenticity in yourself?
Look, I’m not going to pretend I have this all figured out, but I am going to share with you some useful insights I’ve uncovered to pull me out of the illusion of hopelessness and despair when it comes to the big issues of our world.
HEADS UP: I’m not going to feed you a bunch of wishful thinking fluff here. These are practical insights and reflections to help you cultivate a different way of relating to the challenges in our world. And if you’re feeling in the slightest bit skeptical, then you are definitely a prime candidate for watching this. (Hint: Cynicism and high skepticism are close relatives of hopelessness, and they all are just avoiding what we really know to be true.) Watch it now.

In closing, I want to share with you one of my favorite quotes on this topic. It’s from none other than Martha Graham, the famous dancer – which I think is so perfect because life is a crazy, beautiful, emotion-filled dance at its best:
“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique…You have to keep open and directly aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open…There is no satisfaction whatever, at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than others.” – Martha Graham
So, keep dancing my friends. Keep embracing the blessed unrest even if we don’t know where it will take us or we won’t live long enough to see the outcomes of our actions. Keep leaning into the light. It’s the best we can do in our limited human lives. It’s what makes us alive, and what a complete and incredible gift to be given that privilege!
Ever hopeful and filled with gratitude,
Amy
