Anne Lamott, best selling author of Bird by Bird (a great book, by the way) has a poignant quote related to today’s post:
“Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor.”
Indeed it is. But how do we get ourselves out from under the thumb of the relentless inner critic that tells us we’re never good enough? I’ve struggled with this question for what seems like forever, but four years ago, I finally traveled the road to perfection so deep into burnout that I had no choice but to figure out how to release myself from what felt like a slow death to my soul.
I know it sounds dramatic, but if you’ve ever suffered from perfectionism, you know all too well what I’m talking about. I’d like to share with you my personal struggle with perfectionism and more importantly how I learned to overcome this nasty habit and keep it at bay for good.
So, please take a peek at the next Living In Your Potential video below to see how I did it.

Are you ready to stop feeding the temptation of perfectionism and start beginning the work of becoming yourself? It is possible, and even more than that, it can actually be fun!

Yours truly and certifiably imperfect,

I loved this (and the others) video! I am the perfectionist procrastinator when it comes to certain aspects of my business. This is the push I need to keep moving forward. Thank you Amy! I can’t wait to read the bonus material!
How exciting Jane! I think we all have a little of the perfectionist procrastinator in us, It’s so sneaky because it actually prevents us from living the life we want and doing what we really want to be doing. I’m psyched to hear you are finding the materials useful. Please keep us posted on what techniques have worked for you in overcoming this old habit. Blessings, Amy
