I can’t help it. I’m a “do-er.” And I’m good at it. I can put my mind to a task, buckle down, and I’ll get it done. You can count on me. I can deliver.

But, I’ve learned the hard way that just because I can do something doesn’t mean I should do it. The older I get, the more I see the need to ease off the throttle of my do-er, and invite in a more receptive, allowing stance in my life. I need to embrace the “being-ness” in my human being self.

But how do I actually do that?

And my bigger question – how am I going to still get my goals accomplished and stay motivated if I am going to surrender my control and ambition to my being-ness?

That proposition feels like a very un-natural thing for a worker-bee type like myself. In the past, what kept me motivated with my often insanely long to-do list was my addiction to the doing – the adrenaline rush one gets when they manage to accomplish the impossible in no time at all. Others might falter at the mere thought of my long list of tasks, but I thrive in these high pressure situations.

If I change the rules now, what are my chances of success?

If you can relate to this dilemma, you need to watch this video below. The opposite of doing is not being a wallflower. There is a certain finesse needed to embrace your being-ness, and if you want to make your life more ease-filled, it’s time to start learning the new rules. Take a look.
