I get asked this question from time to time by my clients: How do I know the difference between a legitimate intuition and an irrational fear?
This is a great question.
When life pulls us into unknown territory and we’re called upon to access that inner guidance, it can get overwhelming and confusing to sort out what’s the best way to proceed. Uncertain times can be a breeding ground for both your intuitions and your fears. So, you do need to be savvy at determining the difference.
Though there certainly is no risk free guarantees in this arena, there are some things we can consider that will increase our odds at knowing the difference between the two. Let’s take a look.

Ultimately, learning the difference between your intuition and fears takes practice and demands a high level of honesty with ourselves.
What’s exciting though is that the more you’re willing to live on life’s edge and challenge yourself to grow and learn by confronting your fears, the better you will master this skill. Every time you courageously enter the unknown, you create another opportunity for yourself to fine tune your inner radar.
It won’t always be so confusing. I’ve been cultivating a deliberate relationship with my inner voice for a long time now, and now it’s become pretty easy for me to feel into when I am coming from love and when I am coming from fear. My intuition is starting to feel like my trusty companion, always by my side as we walk the road ahead. The journey may not always be easy, but with good company, I’m sure to carry on.
How do you tell the difference between your intuition and fear? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.
Lots of love,

Hi Amy,
WONDERFUL as always. I especially like the part about how resistance signals the next potential area of growth. I know when I feel nervousness or fear or just that uneasiness in my gut about something, I ask myself if it is good fear or bad fear. Basically, if I could take away all fear surrounding the experience, would I want the outcome or not? For example: accepting a new job, making a call, going to an event, taking a trip or starting a new business. Is the nervousness because I truly don’t want to do it (intuition that it is the wrong choice for me) or just fear about doing it, (insecurity, excitement, etc) but ultimately something I truly want to do. If it is the latter, I know it is just the illusion of fear trying to get in the way and the bad feeling is not intuition that the result is wrong for me, but just fear surrounding achieving it.
Realizing this I can easily clear it and make my way to my goal.
Beautifully contribution Michael! I think a lot of people will be able to relate to this and use this as a useful question in the heat of a moment. And of course, with more practice of this technique, the easier and more fine-tuned it will become.Thank you so much for sharing this! Sending love and blessings! xo, Amy
