Being authentic in any way is a challenging thing to do, but I think it can be most challenging when it comes to our spirituality.
Whatever our spiritual practices or traditions are, they tend to take us to that edge of personal growth, challenging us to look at the unconscious parts of ourselves and explore. It’s easy when we go to a place of vulnerability like this to want to hide from the truth; follow the masses; or just keep staying unconscious. When we hit that edge, we have to CHOOSE authenticity, and I feel we have to PRACTICE choosing it as it may not always come natural to us.
Even when you join a loving supportive spiritual community, it still might be tempting to start assuming your practice and/or experience needs to look like everyone else’s to be “right.” Sometimes authenticity is about being willing to be different no matter what.
Other times, it might mean going deeper with your practice beyond the surface level to the uncomfortable places you may not “like” as much, the less glamorous parts of one’s spiritual path.
Whatever your traditions, I invite you to watch today’s video to learn about how you can bring more of your TRUE self to your spiritual practice. Because after all, one of the greatest gifts of our spiritual work is getting to have a more loving and truthful relationship with one’s Self, and we can’t do that without authenticity. Take a look.

Now for one last note. There’s an added bonus to being authentic. The more authentic you are in all areas of life, the more you start to like yourself. Writer, Rachel Andrews, explains this beautifully:
“As you become more aligned with the truth of who you are, the question of liking yourself goes away. It is a natural state of being.”
So, next time you sit down to meditate, pray, chant, write, or whatever you do for spiritual practice, remember to extend an invitation to your WHOLE beautiful self to show up and be YOU. And watch the magic unfold.
Big love sisters,
Amy xo
