Sometimes I feel like our world is a little “happiness” obsessed. We’re always searching for that next high, that next thing that is going to make life exhilarating, alive, and sparkling.
On one level, I get it. Who doesn’t want to feel the body-rocking, heart-opening feeling of being happy? But I also find myself questioning, is this constant looking for the next high serving me?
If I’m truthful, the “always search for happiness” approach is only able to take me so far. It’s a little two dimensional: if I’m happy, life is good. And if I’m not, then life is bad. I think it’s all a little more complex than that.
But if it’s not about happiness, is there another goal? And if so, how do you pursue it?
The answer will probably be a little different for everyone, of course. But I wanted to share with you the liberating conclusion I’ve come to, and how it’s taking my life to whole other level of beauty and peace. Take a look.

In closing, I just want to say that it’s not always easy to orient to contentment and turn away from the happiness addiction. You may find yourself not receiving much support from the world around you. It takes a lot of bravery and courage to walk to a different drumbeat.
But have faith, a life of contentment is one that is rich, complex, and beautifully fulfilling on a deep soul level. So, keep on keeping on, and take it all in. Your soul will thank you later.
Peace and love,
Amy
